Crystal Leann Smiley, 24, passed away Feb. 9, 2011, in a house fire in Pahrump.
She was born Nov. 25, 1986, in San Luis Obispo, Calif., and was a resident of Pahrump for eight years, having moved here from Santa Maria, Calif.Crystal liked to write and draw. She loved to be outside and loved hiking, camping and fishing.She enjoyed bowling, shooting pool and playing basketball and softball. Surviving are her mother Cynthia Smiley of Pahrump; brothers Jack Smiley of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Michael Smiley of Atascadero, Calif., and Don Houston Jr. of Staunton, Ill.; sisters Anna Huyck and Michelle Smiley, both of Pahrump; and a nephew and a niece. She was preceded in death by her father Richard Smiley; maternal grandparents Fred and Ann Mitchell and paternal grandparents Jack and Ann Smiley.
The picture is this; of a young woman, usually stooped over a sketchpad surrounded by various art supplies, music playing in the background displaying the view from her personal window in life. Windows down, music up riding around the valley with no care in the world. Crystal Smiley will always be remembered as a vibrant and outgoing compassionate individual. Her neice and nephew amongst the rest of her family were her life. She never said no, every breath she drew was ingenious. She painted her own pictures, sketched her own humour and sprayed the world a different hue. Always smiling and laughing, through her own personal battles she was always there for people she cared for and even strangers on the street. There are not enough words, or depth to even scratch the surface of who Crystal was, and how she will continue to live on each and every day. You are truly a masterpiece, your friendship and meaning in my life is invaluable and I will carry you with me everywhere I go. She was more than just an artist, she is art. Paint with a vengance Crystal, we love you.

Going up Bellvista playing card games up on the mountain. Staying up all night and talking. Cuddling. Watching Imagine you and me. You were one of the only reasons I ever went back to P-town. I feel lost without you. Ill never forget you. EVER.
